About This Release

Shadows From Your Light comes two years after the Horizon Series and in retrospect it seems like a counterpoint to it. Or at least a reaction. “Shadows” is soft and sits in bright daylight, “Horizon” is indoors in a darkened room. Shadows is perhaps in the place that Horizon was urging me to get to. If Horizon was a deep grey colout, Shadows is a warm cream.

Horizon was very inward facing. I was talking to myself about myself. Shadows is outward facing. Falling in love is great for songwriting. Falling out of love is great at songwriting. Being in love, not so much. Except for here. Shadows From Your Light is all inspired from being in love. Reverie, for example, is about that feeling I have laying in bed and trying to fall asleep when my wife is not around. When she’s there, I am asleep as soon as my head hits the pillow. When she’s not, I write Reverie.
